Skihytta på Rismålshaugen
Description
Sjømannsbyen, Tromsøya
The ski cabin is located at the top of Rismålshaugen, featuring a covered gallery and veranda facing south towards the sun. The old cabin is primarily a single-story structure built with log construction. With its small-paned windows, dark timber walls, and covered gallery, the cabin has a national romantic style typical of the era in which it was built. The large dining room is accessed from the gallery, which runs along the entire length of the cabin. At the western end of the cabin, a second floor has been added, accessible via an external staircase, with a beautiful veranda that extends the interior space.
For its reopening in 2009, the old cabin was beautifully restored, and necessary facilities such as toilets, a kitchen, and storage rooms were added at the back. These additions are separated from the old cabin by a glass corridor. The extension is built with a timber frame and features a modern architectural style compared to the original structure.
The cabin was awarded Tromsø City Cultural Heritage Award in the Cultural Heritage Year 1997.
