On the headland Børhella, between Nordmela and Nøss, the mountain formation Bukkekjerka stands tall. It is an old Sami sacrificial site, and the name comes from the Sami word "bohki" meaning crevice and "giergie" meaning stone. Several well-trodden paths lead to the top of Bukkekjerka.
The Bukkekjerka rest area is located by the road that separates the steep mountain side in the east from the great ocean hitting the shore in the west. Here there is parking, a rest area, a service building, a bench, and a footbridge, all built in cast-in-place concrete and placed in the landscape to highlight the site's diversity and history. The built elements make the area more accessible than it was before and are added with great respect for the nature, culture and history of the place.
