Hageanlegg på Lurøy gård (Gardens at the Lurøy Residence)
Description
The Lurøy residence at Lurøy in Helgeland is situated in a well-protected and sunlit area below the steep mountain Lurøyfjellet. The Lurøy garden is comprised of two sections which were constructed in different periods. The Renaissance section is the oldest and was built in the 18th century. Towards the end of the 19th century, it was expanded with a landscape garden after an English pattern. Many are surprised to find such a well-preserved offshoot of a Renaissance garden style so far north.
