Fiskarfagskolen i Honningsvåg (Fishermens School in Honningsvåg)
Description
Klubbveien 9, 9750 Honningsvåg
The Fishermen's School is situated on top of Klubben, which is a spit that has a steep hill. Therefore it is easily visible from the entire town of Honningsvåg and from the sea. Originally the school was called the Norwegian Fishermen's School and had various educational programmes for students training to be skippers, machinists and cooks. It was presented as a gift from the city of Oslo to the residents of Finnmark and opened in 1954. In 1981 the school was transferred to the Finnmark County Municipality and merged with the secondary school the following year. Today it still operates as a school.
