"Dverberg kirke" (3 of 5)
Description
Dverberg Church has a gallery along five of the octagonal’s sides and thereby leaves a chancel area with full uninterrupted ceiling height. The ceiling follows the shape of the roof and its centre is painted in a contrasting blue colour. Before the church was built, there was a debate about the position of the pulpit. Traditionally in Norwegian octagonal churches it would be above the altarpiece as in Hadsel Church. However, the rector of Dverberg Church did not want that, and the pulpit is placed at the front south side of the chancel.
