Description

The villa is located in "the Plush Town", at Furulund, where residences had higher standards than the workers' housing. This reflects the social hierarchy that characterised many industrial societies at the beginning of the last century. This villa was built for the office manager Wilhem Sjøstedt in 1917 and was often referred to as "the Office Manager Villa".

This photo shows the villa and its Rococo-inspired panel architecture, which exhibits high status. A hipped roof crowns the building, but on the gables the roof is drawn downward like an arched mansard roof. Rounded roof slates clad the roof. The mansard roof lowers the cornice, making the building appear one-storied and uniting it with the ground level. This is also emphasised by the low-rising cellar-storey and the horizontal parapet. The building was designed by the architect Erling Nielsen.
