"Furulund" (9 of 9)
Description
The wall plane is divided into two sections. There is a parapet on the ground storey that has horizontal level panelling, while the wall plane has vertical lath panelling. The lath panelling provides a nice contrast, by creating shadows that change throughout the day depending on the sunshine. Standing in contrast to one another, the parapet and the lath panelling illustrate the proportions of the building.
The windows are symmetrically arranged on the wall plane and mansard roof. By means of the "false shutters" on the first storey (above the entrance on the north façade) the windows form a row which emphasises the building's horizontal quality. The shutters are embellished with small ornamentation.
A portal marks the entrance of the building. The crown of the portal roof and oval windows exhibit elegance and are reminiscent of the Rococo style. The portal gable is shaped out of the panelling and rests on four columns. Oval windows were installed in the panelling. On the wall of the entrance, lath panelling forms a parapet at shoulder height. This creates a break in the otherwise continuous parapet that encircles the ground storey of the building.
