"Stamsund kirke" (4 of 5)
Description
Behind the church, there is a lush urn burial garden one level below the main entrance. The Stamsund Church was the first church located north of Trondheim that was equipped with a complete crematorium. The cremator that was first used in 1939 was dismantled in 2003. Currently the nearest crematorium is in Bodø. Today the caskets are transported to a graveyard that is located a few kilometres away.
