The Dreyers' House is situated in the centre of the village Skjervøy. It was built in 1905 for Klaus H. Dreyer who was then "lensmann", that is he was head of the local police force and also held other legal positions such as public notary, and the house reflected his position in the community.

It is a log house with two full storeys with useful rooms in the attic under the steep slate roof. The external walls have white wooden cladding. The windows are tall cross-windows and facing the sea they are set in pairs.

The Dreyers' House has many of the characteristics of the Swiss chalet style such as: generous ceiling heights

spacious and well lit rooms

a wide footprint

a steep roof with extended eaves and exposed rafters with decoratively cut ends and tall cross-windows. This house represents a modest and simplified example of an often otherwise exuberant style.
