Sulitjelmaveien (The Road to Sulitjelma)
Description
Sulitjelma - Finneid
The road between Finneid and Sulitjelma (RV830) moves carefully through the landscape and offers views of the sea, mountains, rivers and waterfalls and it consists of tunnels, long straight stretches and gentle curves and inclines. It was first built as a narrow gauge railway, but when this was decommissioned in 1972 the route was converted into a road. Traveling along the road it is easy to imagine that this was originally a railway line.
In 2009 the road was given protected status in accordance with the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act.
