Description

The first railway line from the mines in Sulitjelma to Sjønstå was completed in 1915 and then the ore was transported by ship from there to Finneid. The railway line was later extended all the way to Finneid and this work was completed in 1956. The railway was then the only means of transport for ore, supplies and people. The ore contained copper, zinc and pyrite.
