Vegvokterbolig på Hatteng (Highway Supervisors House at Hatteng)
Description
Hatteng, 9046 Oteren
Hatteng is situated on a plain in the innermost part of Storfjorden with two valleys, Signaldalen and Kitdalen, both leading in towards Sweden and Finland. The E6 and E8 run past here, to Skibotn to the north-east and to Nordkjosbotn to the south-west. The site is situated in flat, open terrain, and the buildings are placed around a small courtyard consisting of the highway supervisor's house, outhouse/shack and hen-house.
The building is a typical example of the particular building style that was found in government property (Highway Authorities) until about the 1970s. The highway supervisor's house at Hatteng was in use as a house until the mid-1980s, and the house was preserved as a techno-industrial cultural relic in 2009.
