The shack is a building made of timber with vertical panelling and stands on sill stones. It has a rectangular layout and a saddle roof clad with bitomenous felt.
The shack is the oldest building on the site and was originally constructed in Øverbygd in 1921. It was Ole Kristian Kristiansen himself who sourced the materials

he also constructed the shack in the form of a portable workman's shed that was used as accommodation during the construction period in Øverbygd. The shed was brought along in the move, first to Elvevoll in 1928 and then to Hatteng in 1939.
