Description

The jury for the Concrete Element Prize wrote the following in their reasoning for the award:
"The concrete cabin at Målselv Mountain Village challenges element production to a high degree. There has been research into surfaces and construction methods, and the transitions have been given great attention – both between the concrete elements, but also regarding other materials; glass, woodwork, and grass roofs are all important material components that have good and architecturally exciting transitions to the concrete. The result is a building that functions very well as a whole. The element construction is well-functioning with regard to the cabin program, considering the cabin's demanding geometry and terrain adaptation in the steep landscape. The surfaces harmonize very well with the mountain landscape. It has become a distinctive building that has not been seen before, and the jury values the ability and willingness to develop something new and unique."
