When the new church was completed in 1869 the vestibule had a pitched roof above the circular window over the main door and a turret on the northwestern end of the nave's roof. Major repairs and improvements were done to the church during the period from 1962 to 1965. A tower was built above the vestibule and the 19th century turret was removed. The extension of the tower can easily be seen where the stonework change colour.
