"Herøy kirke" (4 of 5)
Description
The finely-formed archway opening between the choir and the apse dates from the Middle Ages. The vertical termination is formed like a stepped-off pilaster and has an Attic base profile at the bottom. This is dated as twelfth-century work.
The altarpiece is in the Baroque style and is a fine piece of work, typical of the eighteenth century. Both the altarpiece and the pulpit would have been painted by Gottfried Ezekiel in 1764.
