Description

The large two storey barn is thought to have been built at the same time as the main residence in 1880. A ramp leads up to the first floor hay loft so that a horse and carriage could bring the hay all the way in. The livestock lived on the ground floor which has log walls. The hay loft needed good ventilation and here the walls were timber frames with wooden cladding. This kind of combined farm building is the most traditional Norwegian barn model. Next to the ramp is another two storey building for storing, making and repairing tools. Now this is the home of an exhibition about fertility and the monolithic marble phallus. Just west of the barn are two underground cellars from the first half of the 19th century.
