Description

Seen from the garden the house displays many characteristics of the Swiss chalet style. It has great width and a slate roof with extended eaves and a gabled roof. The central gabled wall dormer and the pitched roof veranda are also typical of Swiss chalet style. Great effort has been made in detailing such as the window surrounds, the front door, the rafter ends, bargeboards and the decorative cutting of the bottom ends of the planed and moulded cladding. The cross windows are another characteristic of this style. The ground floor has great ceiling height and the tall windows generously let light deep into the rooms. Both the interior and the exterior have retained most of their Swiss chalet style details, which date from 1894.
