"Jacobsbakken" (4 of 9)
Description
The buildings at Jacobsbakken are clustered along a street that follows a stream and pond (called Vaffelkaktjønna). The street emphasises both the buildings and a sense of community, which stands in contrast to the surrounding mountain plateau. This photograph was taken facing north. On the right side of the road (in the middle) lies the portico building "Kabelvåg", which is flanked by a four-flat residence on each side. Vaguely appearing in the lower-right corner is "Hjemmet" ("the Home"), a typical four-flat residence from the period 1916-1919, which was designed by the architect Erling Nilsen.
