Description

In the foreground of this photo lies the mess hall. It reflects the Swiss-style, while the details on the windows resemble elements from the national romantic style. This building has retained many of its original features dating from the 1890s.

The company offices are situated on the upper side of the road alongside the mess hall, and have a U-shaped ground plan. A two-storied portico comprises the midsection, with a pitched roof projecting like a gable on each side of the portico. Together, the symmetric design and the intricate details suggest that the architect Erling Nielsen worked on the design in roughly 1915. Several years later, the company offices were converted into an inn.

To the left of the company offices, one can vaguely see the old post office. This building was originally a one-storied residence, which later was annexed and converted into a post office. In later years, functionalistic windows were installed. Otherwise, many of the older details remain intact.

A small light-coloured residence is found to the left of the post office. This was the old stationmaster's residence. Originally located at Hellarmo, it was later relocated to Furulund and renovated after drawings executed by the architect Erling Nielsen in 1915. The building retains its distinguished details and small-paned windows.
