Description
The barn was constructed using a U3 component range drawing, which was the most common type of reconstructed barn. The actual cowshed is made of cogging jointed planks, while the rest of the structure is made of a raised timber frame. On the exterior, the barn is clad with vertical panelling that is painted red. It is crowned with a saddle roof that is covered with slate. The cross-post windows have two frames that are again divided a second time, and the window framing is painted white. On the first storey there is a stable with room for three cows, sheep and a horse stall, along with a portico. On the second storey there is a hayloft with entrance from a walkway/bridge through a double barn door. Beneath the barn was a cellar that collected animal excrement.
