"Niemenaikku" (4 of 5)
Description
The "bårstue" (secondary residence) was the first building that was erected during the reconstruction at Niemenaikku. It temporarily served as the dwelling house until the farmhouse was completed. Often times after the farmhouse was built, the "bårstue" was torn down, but not in this case - here it was later used as a shop. This was also often the place where the servants lived. The structure is constructed of sawed planks, and the exterior is clad with vertical panelling. Each window has three frames, apart from the loft where there is a series of small paned windows. The roof is covered with tar paper. It is painted an ochre colour, while the doors and window frames are brown.
