Description

The farmhouse was constructed using component range drawings that were developed by the reconstructions district office on Skjervøy. Component range drawings were common in the Northern Troms County, but there were typically a few changes made during construction, as was also the case with Niemenaikku.

The house is one and a half storied, with a plot that measures 42 square metres. It has a cross shaped plan with a corridor, kitchen, chamber room, and living room located on the main floor, along with three bedrooms on the second storey. The entrance and larder are annexed, and there is a small veranda located above this annex. The veranda was not actually included in the original drawings from 1947, but eventually became a very common feature of reconstructed farms. A survey done in 1950 showed that all housewives wanted a balcony. If one had a balcony, one could easily air out their bed linens several times a week.
