Description

The choir is elevated, almost like a stage. The choir is dominated by the altarpiece from 1856, painted by Eilert Balle Lund from Trondheim. The central motif is of Jesus blessing the small children. It is flanked by two wing images - Moses receiving the Ten Commandments and John who writes his revelation on the island of Patmos.

As far as we are aware, this church is the only one in Northern Norway with an angel figure that supports the baptismal font. It was given to the church by the innkeeper Peter Chr. Bech and the landowner Niels Winter in 1782. The baptismal font is suspended from the ceiling and is lowered when there is a baptism. At this time a baptismal bowl is placed in the wreath that the angel holds with outstretched arms.
