"Hydro-byen i Glomfjord" (5 of 5)
Description
The church and the school were localised at a high-level and open area at Vassaksla, between the pre-war period town in Glomen and the post-war period town in Haugvik. The first construction phase of the school was completed in 1957. It is uncertain who the architect was. Comprising this first construction phase were the two long, rectangular two-storied classroom wings, which were situated at a right angle from another and form two sides of the schoolyard. They are adjoined with a lower-rising central building which contains the main entrance. These three sections are made of concrete and have slate covered saddle roofs. This type of mass-composition and use of material is typical of 1950s style architecture.
