"Aspenes gård" (3 of 5)
Description
The combined cattle and hay barn with a ramp leading to the upper floor was built in 1886 and partly reusing materials from the old farmhouse. The animals’ spaces on the ground floor have log walls with tooth-edged joints whilst the hayloft is timber frame clad with vertical cladding. Within the animals’ quarters there is still an open fireplace for heating animal feed which was common practice in Troms during the 19th and first half of the 20th century.
