"Universitetet i Tromsø, Realfagsparsellen" (2 of 7)
Description
The first building that was erected on the university campus in Breivika was the Mathematics-Natural Sciences Faculty building. Therefore it is often referred to as the "first phase of construction." The building was designed by John Kristoffersen Arkitektkontor, and was opened in 1978. It is a three-storied complex, with a southern wing containing offices, a central building housing a canteen and auditoriums, while the north-wing holds laboratories with high demands for technical wiring. The structure is made of cast-in-place concrete. Anodised and galvanised sheets of metal clad the façades on the two wings, while the walls on the central building are covered with brick.
