The Swiss chalet style is an international architectural style and is wooden architecture's parallel to historicism. The Swiss chalet style is richly detailed as was gothic architecture, and translated into English its Swedish name means "carpenter's joy". The Swiss chalet style was based on traditional wooden building formats and constructions whilst the decorative detailing was derived from many areas around Europe.
