Norrøna barnehage (Norrøna Day Nursery)
Description
Simen Workinns vei 7, 9016 Tromsø
Norrøna Day Nursery is situated in Simen Workinns vei in an area dominated by detached houses on spacious plots at the west side of Tromsøya. The building is surrounded by woodland and partly original terrain. This day nursery with four units emphasizes outdoor play and exploration of the natural environment. The building is more or less hidden among the trees and the sloping green roofs underline its intention of integration into its surroundings.
The south-facing U-shaped building is organised around a central patio and play area sheltered against prevailing cold winds. Incorporated into the building is a glazed combined lobby and play room for the children to use when they want respite during outdoor winter play.
