Description

9900 Kirkenes
The administration building for A/S Sydvaranger is positioned on a flat piece of land down in the centre of Kirkenes. There is a park around the building and a good view up towards the production locations up the hill.

Several towns in Finnmark were destroyed towards the end of the Second World War and the rebuilding of these towns was planned once the war was over. In the plans for Kirkenes, and the way in which it was built, the town hall and the mining company's administration building are situated at either end of Rådhusgata, with the business district in between.

The administration building was designed by Blakstad and Munthe-Kaas and is an extended stone building in a rectangular shape oriented southeast-northwest. It stands on a low base of grey stone and is three and a half storeys high. The roof is a gabled roof with slate tiles.
