Description
All of Tranøya has been state property and was once church land. The area was under Trondenes parish until 1731, after which it was transferred to Ibestad. From 1738, Tranøya became the residence and farm for a chaplain. In 1759, Tranøy parish was separated from Ibestad, and Tranøya became the parsonage and residence for the parish priest, a role it held until 1960.
