The farm mound in Alsvåg, on which the main building is situated, is particularly large and partially dates back to the Middle Ages. A farm mound consists of black soil and waste deposits from earlier settlements. The farm mound here is now bordered by roads and parking lots on all sides. It was somewhat damaged when the new museum building was constructed in the 1980s. The farm mound is an automatically protected cultural heritage site.
