There was a significant difference between workers and officials, and the housing emphasized this. The same type of house was equipped with four family apartments for workers, and two apartments for officials. The workers' housing also lacked baths and running water. Water hydrants were installed outside in the worker areas. On Bjørkåsveien, four old workers' houses stand in a row. Originally, there were probably 5-6 apartments in each house, and behind one of the houses, the picture shows an outhouse (toilet) with five doors.
