Svalbard Science Centre is the largest building both in Longyearbyen and Svalbard as a whole. The near on 12,000m2 contains among much else a library, classrooms, a museum and laboratories. The building is occupied by the following institutions: The University Centre in Svalbard, The Norwegian Polar Institute (office and research facilities); EISCAT; the Governor of Svalbard’s historic archives; Svalbard Museum; Kunsthall Svalbard (a department of Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum (art museum)) and Svalbard Science Forum.
