Description
Farmstead clusters like Steinsland used to be common all along the coast of Northern Norway, and their farmland consisted of many small and intermixed fields. Since the introduction of the Norwegian Land Consolidation Act of 1859 many farmstead clusters were dissolved as the farmers moved all their buildings to their newly gathered land holding.
