To reach Vilgesvárri a 7.5 km road goes from Tovik to Sandemarka by Blåfjellvann and then onwards along the east side of the lake to a parking place from where there is a signposted track (3.5km) to the old settlement. Vilgesvárri and its surrounding area are still important for forrest Sámi livelihoods and represent part of the cultural activities that Sandemark Bygdeutviklingsselskap (Sandemark Rural Development Company) offers. The settlement is also included in the local authority’s, Skånland Kommune, contribution to the project “Fotefar mot nord”. Vilgesvárri has protected status in accordance with the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act.
