The building has two very fenestrated areas; one facing southeast in the dining room and the other northwest in the communal space. The windows have been calibrated to withstand hurricane force winds and the extreme climatic conditions by the glacier. 

Rabothytta’s altitude is 1200 m above sea level and it’s situated just 100 m away from  the edge of the Okstindbreen glacier. During the snow free season the cabin may be reached by first driving to the end of the road in the Leirskardalen valley and then walking approximately 5 km with an ascent of 520 m. Depending on weather conditions and fitness the walk may take 1.5 to 3 hours.
