Description

The landscape in western Lofoten is barren with jagged mountains plunging into the ocean although in-between there are green ledges and meadows. The road is built using local materials and indigenous plants.

Between Solbjørnneset and Akkarvik there are altogether four avalanche galleries, measuring a total of 975m in the highest risk locations. The road follows the shore and the galleries’ design allows natural light to flow in and the road users to take in the view of the fjord Vestfjorden.
