"Steigen kirke" (6 of 7)
Description
The cast iron crosses here come in two shapes: the straight latin cross and the budded cross with three circles or discs at the end of the arms symbolizing the Trinity. These latter crosses were particularly popular during the second half of the 19th century. The tall monuments in the background are made in beautiful imported stone and one has an inlaid relief and the classic symbol of death, the urn, on top. When the large tree spreads it branches over the graves
nature heals the grieving and softens the space for everybody.
