The Caucasian lily (lilium monadelphum) with beautiful bright yellow flowers thrives in this garden. Its Norwegian name is Steigenlilje (the lily from Steigen). It was brought to Norway from the Caucasus in 1820 and was grown several places in the Steigen area throughout the 19th century. It was introduced to the garden at Steigen Vicarage in 1872, hence it acquired its Norwegian name Steigenlilje.
