Description

Rørvik Gård is originally an old Sami farmstead and it is first mentioned in written sources in 1559. It is a good example of how farms to a very high degree were self-sufficient and how they carefully used the available resources from their cultivated and uncultivated land as well as the fjords and lakes.

The farmstead is now owned by the charity Stiftelsen Rørvik Gård, which was established on the initiative of the local district council in 1987 and since then careful repairs have been made in accordance with local traditions. It is now a museum and an educational resource for schools in the area.
