"Sortland kirke" (4 of 4)
Description
Old photographs of Sortland Church show it originally had a pale beige to yellow colour with a darker tone on the decorative elements. This is said to reflect the gothic revival's liking of central European timber frame buildings. The exterior was painted completely white after WW2. The interior is dominated by the strong red and blue hues used on structural and decorative elements as well as the pews.
