Description

The building closest to the main road is a reconstructed smithy. Such buildings would always be placed away from the others due to the fire hazard. It is a one-room log construction with a fireplace. The windows are modern but with small windowpanes. The smithy is used by the museum for blacksmithing courses.

The market place had a number of wells, but the one we can see today with a well sweep is a reconstruction. A bucket was attached to the end of the sweep and water hoisted up. This was a construction used by the Kven people who descend from Finnish peasants and fishermen.
