"Kronehuset" (3 of 3)
Description
The log house was produced in Bindalen, in the southern part of the county Nordland, and then shipped to Storneshamn in Nordreisa where it was reassembled and completed for the merchant Arne T. Hansen around year 1900. A picture dated 1908 shows a symmetrical two storey, rectangular house with a pitched roof. The upstairs windows are low and sit just under the eaves as was common in typical Nordland houses. When the house was moved to its current position it underwent a major redesign to fit the then current fashionable styles.
Unlike most of the buildings at Storslett Kronehuset and Mr. Hansen's original shop were not burnt down during the Second World War. The shop has now been moved to the open air museum in Sørkjosen.
