Description

Fugløykalven is regarded as the most isolated light station in Norway. The landing conditions are both difficult and unpredictable because of the ocean swell. However, people living and working here used boats as their mean of transportation until 1985 since when helicopters took over. The lighthouse was automated and permanent on-site staff left in 2003. The light station is managed by the Norwegian Coastal Administration on behalf of the Norwegian government.
