Description

Ole Olsen's Park was laid out in the grounds of the old town common which also was a firebreak reaching from the shore and up the mountainside. The park is situated next to the town hall and market square, and together these three make the heart of the town. The park is cut in two by the main street Strandgata. The lower part is dominated by a large circular fountain and the upper part is the home of a music pavilion and a bust of the composer Ole Olsen who the park is named after.

The park's planting scheme has trees such as birch, rowan, willow and poplar, and hardy shrub species from the lonicera and salix families. Enriched by colourful bedding plants during the summer season the park makes a lush contribution to the townscape whilst the slate paving and sturdy benches contribute with robustness.
