"Gapahuk i Ankerlia" (3 of 5)
Description
In good weather the protruding platform at the bottom of the stone clad roof can be used both as a bench and table and it is a great place to enjoy the view of both the natural landscape and the cultural landscape created by the mining activities.
The surrounding mountains have deposits of pyrrhotite and chalsopyrite. The copper ore was extracted during the period between 1898 and 1919 and there was a smeltery in Ankerlia from 1910. The smelted copper was transported to the harbour in Kåfjordbotn by cable railway.
