"Holmenes" (3 of 5)
Description
The small old buildings on the Holmenes Farm have a nice silver grey colour, which is unique to alder. The two sheds with a storage shed in the back are situated close to one another. Their gable walls and entrances face towards the valley. The sheds are built from cogging jointed timber while the storage sheds are built with stave construction. The firewood shed is located between the other sheds and the cottage. These sheds were used as sleeping rooms during the summer
the boys and the girls had separate sheds. Clothing was also stored here. In terms of construction, the storage sheds were more open and well-ventilated than the sheds and were therefore used to store food.
