"Holmenes" (2 of 5)
Description
The dwelling house is a two-roomed cottage with a loft for sleeping located above. Below there is a kitchen and living room. The living room is multi-functional, used as a bedroom, workroom, and sitting room. A stairway that leads up to the loft is located in a corner in the kitchen. This house is built of cogging jointed pine timber - brought in from Skibotn - and the timber is unadorned both on the inside and outside of the house, apart from one of the gable walls. After WWII, the house was partially rebuilt and unoccupied until 1964. Once the Northern-Troms museum came into the picture at Holmenes, the dwelling house was repaired and returned to its original appearance.
