Description

The altarpiece is designed as a portal surrounding the main panel with columns, a protruding cornice and a broken pediment on top. The main panel depicts the Crucifixion and the predella the Last Supper. Moses and the high priest Aaron, who are painted on cut out pieces of wood, flank the portal and on top the altarpiece is crowned by Christ carrying the banner of victory and two cherubs carrying a palm branch each. The latter three are wooden sculptures. The altarpiece was a donation to the church in 1785 by N.P. Greger who was a merchant having privileged rights for importing and exporting goods.
